COPLEY — Conrad Daniel, owner of Truly Heal Wellness, said becoming a licensed massage therapist and business owner was not part of his original career path.
“I didn’t know about manual therapies or massage therapy in general,” said Daniel, who parlayed his background in boxing and mixed martial arts into a career as a certified personal trainer with specializations in nutrition, corrective exercise, stretch modalities and online coaching.
Daniel founded Truly Heal Wellness, at 2830 Copley Road, when he saw a need for an integrated approach to whole body wellness, addressing both postural issues and fitness, nutrition and personal goals to “achieve sustainability and health in an effective and efficient way.”
He said Truly Heal Wellness treats each person individually and creates a tailored program for their specific health issues.
“Being able to understand the needs of an individual, I believe, is key,” he said. “The goal at Truly Heal Wellness is to better prepare, educate, heal and ultimately be the best version of yourself.”
Daniel, a graduate of Cleveland Institute of Medical Massage and a State Medical Board-licensed massage therapist in Ohio, has previously worked as a rehabilitation specialist and massage therapist at a spine, joint and wellness center as well as at a massage studio.
Truly Heal Wellness services include customized orthopedic massage, sports recovery and performance treatment, deep tissue massage, corrective exercise, stretch therapy, nutrition coaching, movement education, neuromuscular and trigger point therapy and chair massage.
The cost of services ranges from $54 half-hour customized medical massage sessions, to two-hour deep tissue or sports recovery and performance sessions for $178 and $180 respectively, and three-session orthopedic massage packages for 60 or 90 minutes for $256 and $330.
Office hours, by appointment only, are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday; and 8 a.m. to noon Thursday.
Daniel said his practice’s holistic treatment approach is needed today more than ever given society’s increasingly sedentary lifestyle choices.
“Our body gets used to doing what it is doing for long periods,” he said. “If we are sitting for long periods, our hip flexors get tight and our abdominals elongate which leads to forward pelvic tilt.”
This, in turn, can lead to numerous back and other musculoskeletal ailments, Daniel said. In essence, he said, the body and mind must each be retrained — and regularly reminded — to stay in proper, healthy alignment.
“We don’t just ask, ‘does it hurt? No? Then we won’t address that.’ That is not my approach at all,” he said. “We want to come back to center and follow dysfunction. A pain on the left side may be caused by something on the right. My philosophy is to bring normalcy and balance to as many people as I possibly can through integration of nutrition, exercise, bodywork and breathwork for the mind, the body and the soul. If the human body is not busy fighting itself, it can fix itself.” For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit trulyhealwellness.com.
