Kate Middleton undertook her latest engagement today, attending the very first Future Workforce Summit, hosted by The Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood.

The Princess of Wales made an appearance in London on November 18 at the summit, bringing together the U.K.’s most influential business leaders to drive further investment in the early years—a cornerstone of the future queen’s royal work. For the occasion, Kate looked sophisticated as ever in a Roland Mouret suit with a white Knatchbull blouse with ruffles down the front underneath—the latter a rewear from a solo appearance in September.

For her first speech in two years—and her first since completing cancer treatment—Kate spoke passionately about the taskforce’s work towards changing the approach to early childhood. “I believe in restoring the dignity to the quiet, often invisible work of caring, of loving well, as we look to build a happier, healthier society,” she said during her remarks, per People.

The gathering saw more than 80 business leaders gather to hear from experts across early childhood, human development, and leadership. A key point of the summit was to show how businesses investing in the early years can play a crucial role in the next generation. The Princess of Wales established the business taskforce in March 2023 to “galvanize business action.”

As she attends the summit, Kate is no doubt gearing up for a busy season ahead—beginning with her appearance alongside husband Prince William at the Royal Variety Performance on November 19, and continuing with her annual Christmas carol concert, scheduled to take place at Westminster Abbey on December 5. This year, the concert will celebrate the power of love and togetherness, and the future queen will be joined by Kate Winslet for the occasion, as well as members of the royal family. All told, 1,600 people are expected to be in attendance.

On November 15, the Princess of Wales shared a personal message in the third installment of her “Mother Nature” video series, shot by Will Warr. Speaking in a voiceover for the video, Kate said, “As the days grow shorter and the shadows grow longer, the energy of summer withdraws into autumn. This is the season for reflection and refinement.”

“Trees shed their canopies in preparation for winter, just as we too learn to let go of what is no longer needed,” she continued. “Through greater awareness of our inner and outer worlds, we can find clarity and purpose in what matters most, encouraging us to simply pay attention and listen. With the turning of the seasons, Mother Nature teaches us there’s beauty to be found in change, impermanence, and in letting go. These are the natural cycles of life.”

“Whilst the blossoms fall and the colors fade, the roots grow deeper, stronger,” she added. “Let love be the roots that holds us, the light that guides us, with hope through change. Endure.”
